Michael describes himself as the "black sheep" of his family. "I was always in trouble and getting locked up. I had a real attitude problem. Trouble was my nickname from the time I was 14 until I was 25. People knew when I came around there was going to be a fight or an argument."

"I started smoking marijuana when I was 14. Nobody twisted my arm or put a gun to my head. Then I started smoking crack. I'd lost my job and didn’t have any money. I even pawned my wedding ring and stole money from my church. There were no limits to what I would have done to get high! There was no doubt in my mind where I was headed. I went to my sister and she found Wheeler Mission's Hebron Center on the Internet."
